Rob Kaplan’s quest to build a better surf leash in 1979 paved the way for the future of Dakine. As windsurfing erupted on the scene in the 80s, Dakine designed accessories, harnesses, and travel bags to meet enthusiasts' needs in Hawaii. Several years later Dakine relocated headquarters to Hood River, OR. This was a pivotal moment because it brought Dakine into the epicenter of windsurfing and simultaneously opened the door to snowboarding, skateboarding, and mountain biking. Dakine had found a whole new group of riders to support.
Dakine products are designed to enhance your experience by identifying those pain points and struggles you have dealt with in the past. Roomier backpacks and travel bags with the technical features you crave and snowboard outerwear that won’t fail you on the mountain are only a sliver of their diverse product line. Having the right gear to get the job done means you have one less thing to worry about. Instead, you can focus on what matters; whether that means choosing your next line or hitting the road with friends.
